for the hours you spent with me
and the care you've given me

for the inspiration to let me grow
and the freedom to let me glow

and the wings to help my flight

POEM FOR A SLEEPLESS NIGHT

We crouch down on our toes to
hide from those who care about us most

to hide our dismay and try
to pray for resolution to our woes

with trouble and strife and demons a rife
we battle through hoards and affray

so when the dawn is done
we can stand tall during the day

        To my friends I'm not going to moan or gripe Or even shake my head while smoking a pipe I'm going to praise the moments we have left And make sure that they are the best I'm going to make sure you understand what You signed up for when you became a friend . A shoulder to cry on a post to scratch A door that's never locked or on the latch. A loan shark that has that has no teeth Where you can get what you need Even if your trapped on a reef.
